Job summary

Chesapeake Shipbuilding is seeking a Steel Erector to join our shipbuilding team. You will perform tack welding, align components to blueprints, and erect frames and beams that form the core structures of cruise ships. A strong production focus and safety mindset are essential.

This full-time position offers competitive hourly pay, a sign-on bonus for eligible hires, and comprehensive benefits including health, 401(k) with match, and paid holidays. Overtime may be required based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Stick Welder with focus on tack welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Safe use of all tools and equipment; attention to detail and precision.
• Familiar with crane hand signals (preferred).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Tack weld components to secure before full welding.
• Ensure alignment of workpieces per blueprint specifications.
• Erect frames, beams, longitudinals and stiffening members for cruise ships.
• Install structural outfitting items, doors, ladders, foundations.
• Perform tack welding with stick and semi-automatic welding equipment.
