Job summary

Gulf Marine Repair Corporation in Tampa, FL is seeking a full-time Pipe Fitter to join our shipyard crew. The role involves fitting pipe assemblies, repairing valves and related components, and working closely with pipe department supervisors and welders to address design issues and equipment malfunctions.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of pipe fitting experience, with tools provided by the employee. Equal opportunity employer status is observed.

Qualifications

• Follows ABS / USCG pipe fitting requirements
• Assist in all types of valve, reach rod, heat exchanger or other miscellaneous mechanical work
• Will work independently with minimal supervision
• Conflict management, leadership, teambuilding and time management skills will be used
• Attention to detail, organizational, problem solving, analytical, critical thinking and decision making skills will be used

Responsibilities

• Fit-up pipe assemblies as specified by work order or blueprints
• Repair or renew various other pieces of equipment as warranted
• Tear down/repair/repack/reassemble valves in place
• Repair sanitary systems aboard vessels
• Work with engine cooling systems
• Prepare pipe assemblies for production welders
• Assess and repair reach-rods, deck actuators, valve handles and bonnets
• Perform material take-offs for cost accounting on repair jobs
• Shipyard pipe fitters work with pipe department supervisors and welders to solve design deficiencies and breakdowns
