Job summary

SOUTH BAY SANDBLASTING & TANK CLEANING, INC. in San Diego, CA is seeking an Estimator to process compliant cost estimates based on work scope, specs, and contractual requirements. The role ensures adherence to company policies and DFARS compliance within shipyard-related defense projects.

You will analyze project requirements, incorporate performance data into estimates, and prepare budgets for proposals while tracking profitability and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive knowledge of practices and procedures for developing, preparing, and forecasting cost estimates.
• Aware of general specifications for overhaul of surface ships (GSO).
• Proficient knowledge of Tech Flushing (MRG/CPP/SSDG) and Tank Flushing (ECW, CHILL WTR, LPAIR).
• Knowledge of system drawings (rip out/install) and system manuals (oil capacity).
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills to present accurate estimates.
• Knowledge of Shipyard Repair Industry regulations and standards (Rank, 009-09, 107,71,6,57).
• 1 year working federal government contracts or like industry.

Responsibilities

• Follow company processes to analyze project requirements, plans, and specs for compliant estimates.
• Evaluate and incorporate performance data into cost estimates, including labor hours and material costs.
• Review and obtain approval on proposals and budgets.
• Maintain knowledge of shipbuilding industry trends affecting operations and profitability.
• Manage stakeholder expectations through the proposal process.
• Perform analyses to prepare cost estimates and calculate gross margins aligned with company goals.
