Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Shipyard Construction Support Representative for the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI. The role supports the Materials Management team by tracking material status, expediting orders, and coordinating between Program Office, Operations, Contracts, and Engineering to ensure timely materials for submarine construction.

Responsibilities include program data management, metric reporting, forecasting material needs, and resolving material

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in supply chain, materials, planning or related areas.
• Experience with technical drawing requirements, project reporting, material analysis and expediting.
• 2+ years shipyard/shipbuilding, construction or materials management experience (preferred).
• Familiar with MRPII/Oracle or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage program/data for material agendas and forecasting.
• Provide project metric reporting and material availability analysis.
• Coordinate material ordering, shortages, and expediting to support schedules.
• Work with Purchasing and Design/Engineering on material issues and make/buy decisions.
• Interface with Program Office, Operations, Contracts, Planning, Finance, and Engineering.

Overview

The Electric Boat Materials Management team is responsible for allocating and overseeing material status between departments to verify material is available and supporting key events activities associated with active class US submarines. Ensuring that all New Construction and Post Shakedown Availability meet safety, cost, quality, and scheduling standards for all delivered products.

Specific responsibilities include in depth knowledge of materials such as:

• Program/data management of material agendas


• Project metric reporting


• Material availability and make or buy analysis


• Purchased or subcontracted material


• Material ordering


• Material short resolutions


• Forecasting material requirements

Additionally, participating in the development of new processes/projects and updating procedures accordingly.

This role requires a strong interface with Program Office, Operations, Contracts, Planning, Finance, Design & Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, and Newport News Ship Building.

*This position is in‑person on‑site at Quonset Point, RI facility - Briggs.

Qualifications

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent


• 2+ years of experience in any of the following: Supply Chain, Materials, Design Build Sustain, Planning, Warehouse, Test, Engineering and Design


• Experience with technical drawing requirements, project reporting, material analysis and expediting, scheduling and product analysis

• Bachelor's Degree


• 2+ Years Shipyard/Shipbuilding, construction, or materials management support


• Military experience


• 1+ years experience using any of the following construction/design or inventory material control management software’s such as: Artemis, Electronic Desktop (EB Internal employees), MRPII, SAP, Oracle, or Teamcenter
