Lead Staffing Corporation seeks an experienced Shipyard Area Superintendent to oversee ship construction and repair operations within assigned shipboard zones at a major San Diego shipyard. You will be accountable for production leadership, subcontractor coordination, safety, quality assurance, schedule adherence, and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of supervisory or operations experience directly within a major shipbuilding or ship repair facility (U.S. Navy surface/sub surface, commercial repair, or defense shipyard).
• Deep working knowledge of ship systems, trade responsibilities (welders, pipefitters, electricians, shipfitters), line management, and shipboard repair practices.
• Practical understanding of NAVSEA Standard Items, Work Authorization Forms (WAFs), and shipboard Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) processes.
• High School Diploma or GED required; maritime academy, trade school, or U.S. Navy/Coast Guard background is a strong plus.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills with proven success writing progress reports and managing trade conflicts under tight timelines.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and obtain shipyard access credentials (e.g., DBIDS / SECNAV).

Responsabilités

• Oversee shipboard production leadership: manage daily trade activities, sequencing, and workflow in assigned zones.
• Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and adherence to OSHA Maritime protocols.
• Coordinate subcontractor activities and resource allocation with Trade Supervisors.
• Monitor milestones, anticipate deviations, and implement corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with QA, Planning, Contracts, Material Control, and Engineering to maintain momentum.
• Interface with NAVSEA and other customer representatives on regulatory matters.
• Provide structured progress reports and lessons learned to drive productivity.
