Job summary

NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD is seeking a Production Controller (Ships) to support the Operations Department in overseeing work packaging and related processes for complex ship overhauls.

The role emphasizes coordinating with production shops, engineers, and project leadership to ensure timely execution, certification, and material readiness. Pass security clearance and travel as required by DoD operations.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience in waterfront Nuclear Work Packaging and Control (NWPC) managing work release, execution, and final certification.
• Experience handling Technical Work Documents (TWDs) including deficiency reports and logs.
• Experience using naval maintenance tools such as AIM, AIM EP, SPETT, MRQT, MAT, ATIS, JEDMICS and CITIS.

Responsibilities

• Develop project work packaging strategies for execution of work on complex overhauls.
• Review lessons learned from precedent projects to improve productivity and packaging.
• Manage the work packaging function, resolving problems and delays across all packaging and job prep.
• Review material request forms, verify status, delivery dates and locations; contact suppliers when needed.
