Job summary

BlueScope, including ASC Building Products, is seeking a Shipping Team Member for the Spokane, WA area. This role handles daily shipping/receiving flow, forklift operation, and paperwork accuracy within a fast-paced production setting.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in shipping or warehouse environments, forklift experience, and ERP/SAP familiarity, with a strong focus on safety, detail, and teamwork to meet delivery commitments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse.
  • 2 years in material and document flow within a production system.
  • 2 years forklift experience and ERP system familiarity.
  • 1-2 years experience with ERP/SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and implement daily shipping and receiving flow.
  • Load/unload trucks and operate forklift safely.
  • Assemble truck loading papers from trip sheets.
  • Audit order accuracy and verify shipment loads.
  • Complete shipping paperwork and maintain ERP records.
  • Enter quality results and generate production reports.
  • Interpret manifests, pick lists, and sales orders.
  • Maintain knowledge of truck weight capacities.
  • Receive and forward receiving documents for resale items.
  • Pull, package, and label accessory parts per pick lists.
  • Cross-train and support packaging, material handling, and machine operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • The organization and implementation of daily shipping and receiving flow.
  • Loading and unloading of trucks to maintain shipping and receiving flow while safely operating forklift.
  • Assemble necessary truck loading papers based on trip sheet from transportation.
  • Audit accuracy of material orders prior to loading trucks and verify shipment load accuracy.
  • Complete shipping paperwork and maintain accurate records in the ERP system.
  • Utilize computer system, enter quality results, and generate production reports.
  • Interprets manifests, pick lists, sales orders, and other shipping documentation.
  • Maintains knowledge of semi-truck weight capacities per axle and full truck load.
  • Receive and forward receiving documents for resale items to Operations Support.
  • Pull, package and label accessory parts for orders using pick lists.
  • Support production roles through cross functional training and position coverage (i.e. Packaging, Material Handling, & Machine Operation) as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum
  • A high school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience in shipping/receiving, manufacturing, or warehouse environment preferred.
  • 2 years experience in material and document flow within a production system.
  • 2 years of experience operating a forklift.
  • Assemble necessary truck loading papers based on trip sheet from transportation
  • 1-2 years experience years of working with ERP systems.
Preferred
  • 3+ years ERP/SAP experience
  • 1-2 years of experience operating a forklift Loading and unloading of trucks to maintain shipping and receiving flow.
  • Experience operating an overhead crane.
  • Experience with shipping and material handling duties.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to analyse and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to operate electronic scanners, printers, and other similar equipment.
  • Attention to detail with orders, measurements, and documentation.
  • Clear communication both verbal and written.
  • Clearly communicates with supervisors, team members, and drivers to coordinate shipments and resolve issues.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and teamwork and follow company guidelines.
  • Computer skills with Basic Microsoft office and ERP.
  • Customer focus to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment.
  • Problem-solving skills to resolve shipping or equipment issues.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands
  • The manufacturing environment will require extended periods of time walking or standing.
  • This position requires regularly moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The work environment is constrained to a standard, unconditioned warehouse, and production space.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to falling objects, floor hazards, machine hazards, and hazards associated with driving a forklift.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Special Requirements
  • Ability to work overtime.
Salary Range

Salary Range: This position’s estimated hourly rate of pay is $22.50- $24.50. Actual base rate of pay will be dependent on an individual’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is eligible for 401k Savings plan, Healthcare (medical, dental and vision), and other generous rewards.
