Job summary

DG Foods is seeking a Shipping Supervisor to join our management team at our Hazelhurst, MS facility. You will oversee shipping, cooler, and dock operations during your shift, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.

Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will lead staff, coordinate shipping and receiving, and uphold USDA/HACCP/SSOP/GPM policies. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience, with 2 years in shipping or distribution.

• Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bilingual in Spanish desirable.
• Proficient in Excel and MS Office 365.

Responsibilities

• Oversee shipping, cooler, and dock operations for the designated shift.
• Train and motivate staff to maintain operational excellence.
• Ensure plant security measures to prevent theft and safeguard assets.
• Learn and enforce USDA, HACCP, SSOP, and GPM policies.
• Uphold safety and health programs and conduct inspections.
• Monitor operations to meet quality specifications and regulatory standards.
• Implement cost-saving measures and promote efficiency.
• Coordinate departmental activities to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Provide leadership and direction to achieve company goals.
• Ensure effective customer service and adherence to quality standards.
• Collaborate with functional leaders to meet regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain positive employee relations and resolve conflicts.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

This role involves overseeing the shipping, cooler, and dock operations during a designated shift, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. Reporting to the Shift Manager, this individual will manage various functions including shipping, receiving, dock, and cooler operations oversight.

Essential Job Functions

• Managing and coordinating the shipping, loading, unloading, and cooler/dock operations for the designated shift.
• Training and motivating staff to maintain operational excellence.
• Ensuring plant security measures are in place to prevent theft and safeguard assets.
• Must be able to learn and understand USDA, HACCP, SSOP, and GPM policies to ensure compliance.
• Upholding safety and health programs, and conducting inspections to mitigate hazards.
• Monitoring operations to meet quality specifications and regulatory standards.
• Implementing cost-saving measures and promoting efficiency.
• Coordinating departmental activities to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
• Providing leadership and direction to achieve company goals.
• Ensuring effective customer service and adherence to quality standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Oversees, approximately, up to 15 direct reports.

• Mentors and coaches shipping employees fostering an environment of positive continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred, however, equivalent experience will be considered. High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years of direct shipping, warehousing, or distribution experience is a plus.
• Must be able to always maintain a high and relatable level of professionalism.
• Must have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to always maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Strong conflict resolution and customer service skills are essential.
• Bilingual in Spanish is extremely desirable.
• Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Office 365, and/or related software.
• Dependable transportation to and from DG Food facilities.
• Must be at least 21 years old and eligible to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in varying environments, including cold and wet conditions.
• Capable of lifting and maneuvering up to 30 pounds.
• Visual acuity is required for close and peripheral tasks.
