The H&S Family of Bakeries are a network of 10 bakeries and multiple distribution centers along the East Coast, all committed to one thing: producing the best quality bread products possible. H&S Family of Bakeries includes Northeast Foods, H&S Bakery and Schmidt Baking Co. Together, our baked goods can be found in a wide range of establishments, from fast food and quick-service restaurants to cafeterias, hospitals, grocery stores and universities.


The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for supervising the shipment of products from production and sister bakeries to the sale routes and filling in for the Shipping Manager when needed.


  • Follow all assigned duties and those in which you were trained. Supervise, train, and direct shipping personnel.
  • Ensure all products are delivered according to order, time schedule, and free from damage or contamination.
  • Schedule all distribution personnel (and transport runs where applicable) to provide for the most efficient use of the workforce and related equipment, meeting established standards.
  • Ensure production orders are filled correctly and the product is shipped according to schedule.
  • Effectively run the assigned shift, addressing, and correcting any issues as they arise to assure the proper outcome using good reasoning skills.
  • Always maintain FIFO.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area.

Requirements & Physical Demands


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in material handling, warehouse, shipping, packaging, etc.
  • Industry-specific knowledge, skills & abilities needed.
  • Experience in the food environment desired, particularly in the bakery industry.
  • General Business knowledge. Specialty/Job-Related knowledge, skills & abilities needed.
  • Knowledge of material handling, warehouse, shipping, packaging.
  • Leadership experience needed.
  • Ability to empower, collaborate, motivate, and enthuse team members.
  • Human Performance Management skills - monitor performance of direct reports and provide feedback to improve performance.
  • Interpersonal knowledge, skills & abilities needed.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain partnering relationships with other departments and key managers.
