Job description

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We’re creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Shipping Specialist supporting SpaceXSI data center operations, you will be responsible for the expedient, accurate movement of high-value materials and equipment (servers, GPUs, networking gear, power systems, cooling infrastructure, and other critical components) needed to support construction, commissioning, and ongoing operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient inbound and outbound logistics while maintaining product integrity, inventory accuracy, and compliance in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process inbound and outbound material through ERP/WMS systems, partnering with procurement, construction, facilities, and operations teams to ensure quality, quantity, and timely delivery of material to the floor or vendors
  • Properly package, label, and manifest parcel, LTL, and large freight shipments (including high-value/sensitive equipment) to protect product integrity throughout the transportation cycle
  • Manifest consignments and schedule movements with carriers (FedEx, UPS, DHL, 3PL, expedited courier, etc.) based on delivery demand, ensuring correct documentation and configuration
  • Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders for pick-up and delivery; prepare shipping labels, packing slips, commercial invoices, packing lists, and other required documents
  • Verify accuracy of shipping information (addresses, quantities, delivery instructions) and inspect/package products for shipment
  • Determine the most cost-effective and efficient shipping methods; track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, resolve delays/issues, and update tracking systems
  • Perform cycle counts and maintain inventory accuracy in shipping-owned incoming/outgoing areas
  • Lead problem-solving for transportation issues (routes, delays, customs, rush orders) and maintain system integrity for all shipments
  • Operate forklifts and material handling equipment per safety procedures to load/unload carriers
  • Evaluate hazardous or sensitive materials and apply appropriate packaging/transport methods based on SDS and specifications
  • Coordinate with internal material handlers/drivers to expedite material and avoid cutoffs
  • Maintain strong communication and customer relationships with internal requestors and destination teams; provide timely shipment updates
  • Collaborate with the team to identify process improvements and recommend initiatives
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 3+ years of shipping, logistics, warehousing, or materials management experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in freight, expedited shipping, or high-volume manufacturing/technology/data center environments
  • Experience with international shipping, export regulations, and customs documentation (where applicable)
  • Strong knowledge of shipping procedures, regulations, and documentation
  • Familiarity with shipping software (UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, MyDHL, or similar) and ERP/WMS systems
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask/prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Forklift or material handling equipment certification
  • Hazmat awareness or relevant certification and knowledge of transport guidelines
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, etc.)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted; frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying required
  • Must be available for one of the following 12.5-hour shifts: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM or 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM
  • Work schedule follows a rotating pattern of 4 days on / 3 days off, then 3 days on / 4 days off (and repeating)
