SpaceX - Shipping Specialist (Starlink)

Position: Shipping Specialist (Starlink)

Role Overview: As a Shipping Specialist, you will be responsible for the efficient movement of items supporting production, testing, and launch operations. Your role is crucial in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of products to both internal and external customers, including preparing shipments, coordinating logistics, packaging, managing exceptions, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with global trade regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Process outbound materials via ERP, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure quality and quantity standards are met.
  • Package and manifest parcels, LTL, and large freight to maintain product integrity during transit.
  • Manage shipment scheduling with carriers and freight forwarders, ensuring accurate documentation and timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and necessary customs and export documentation.
  • Verify shipping information for accuracy and inspect products for proper packaging and labeling.
  • Determine the most cost-effective shipping methods and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery, resolving issues as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and BIS, and manage international trade documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and Certificates of Origin.
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and maintain system integrity for shipments.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives related to transportation issues, and operate forklifts and handling equipment safely.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to expedite materials and maintain good customer relationships, providing timely shipment updates.
  • Identify process improvements and suggest initiatives to management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of shipping experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience in freight, expedited, and international shipping, including export regulations.
  • Proven experience in high-volume manufacturing or aerospace environments.
  • Knowledge of shipping procedures, documentation, and systems like UPS WorldShip or FedEx Ship Manager.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Certification in operating forklifts and hazmat handling, with knowledge of transport guidelines.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted and perform physical tasks related to shipping.
  • Availability for shifts including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
