Job summary

Tension Envelope Corporation in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Worker to handle order processing, loading, and documentation. Training provided; union-regulated starting pay of $20.24 per hour with a raise after 12 months.

The role requires basic reading of safety rules, ability to perform calculations, and accurate shipment handling. On-site position with potential overtime after training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Check freight for damage and count against bill of lading.
• Process shipments: count, package, weigh and label materials.
• Load trucks and prepare orders.
• Maintain staging area and write orders.
• Prepare bills of lading and related forms.
• Operate forklift, elevator and stretch wrapper.
• Prepare shipping docs for urgent shipments.
• Coordinate pickups with outside carriers.
• Other duties as required.

Shipping & Receiving Worker

Starting Pay: $20.24 per hour with increase after 12 months; union regulated.

The Shipping & Receiving Worker processes orders and ships products to customers; unloads all materials and places such in the building.. All training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Checks freight for damage; counts freight to match with bill of lading.
• Performs shipment processing, including counting, packaging, weighing and labeling of materials.
• Load the trucks.
• Writes orders and maintains staging area.
• Prepares bill of ladings and other miscellaneous forms, including those for wastepaper trucks.
• Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including forklift, elevator and stretch wrapper.
• Prepares shipping documentation (bill of lading, packing slips, etc.) on any urgent last-minute shipments.
• Coordinates pickup and deliveries with outside carriers.
• Perform related work as required.
• Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWELDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate and percentage and to interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to read ruler.
• Knowledge of the metric system is a plus.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
