Qualifications

• 1+ years in warehouse, shipping and receiving; 1+ years supervising.
• Experience with freight carriers and POD reporting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to deliver shipping/receiving outcomes meeting safety, quality, production, financial and customer goals.
• Supervise shipping/receiving staff including scheduling, training, and evaluations.
• Inspect product for customer specifications, verify content and labeling, note discrepancies, and process orders.
• Oversee receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate and track outbound shipments ensuring timely dispatch and adherence to customer requirements.
• Negotiate rates with carriers and manage POD reporting.

Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Compensation: $23.00 - $26.00 / hour

Description

As a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, you will oversee and coordinate the daily operations of our shipping and receiving department to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing of inbound and outbound shipments. Your responsibilities will include managing a team of shipping and receiving associates, monitoring inventory levels, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining lofty standards of service.

The ideal candidate for the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor position is a dynamic and experienced logistics professional with strong leadership abilities and a deep understanding of shipping and receiving processes. They possess excellent organizational and communication skills, enabling them to manage a team effectively and ensure seamless operations within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Provide leadership and direction to the team to deliver and execute shipping and receiving outcomes and meet safety, quality, production, financial and customer goals as defined by the client requirements and business objectives.
• Supervise and manage the activities of shipping and receiving staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
• Inspect product to ensure adherence to customer specifications, ensure orders are checked for content and labeling, note any discrepancies, and ensure that all R&M and Ad-hoc orders are picked and processed for the day.
• Oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming shipments to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate and track outbound shipments, ensuring timely dispatch and adherence to customer requirements.
• Work with freight carriers to obtain quotes for multiple distribution channels and capture proof of delivery (POD) reporting.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular physical inventory checks.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies within the shipping and receiving area.
• Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve any shipping or receiving issues.
• Implement and improve standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to shipping and receiving operations.
• Manage relationships with carriers and vendors to negotiate rates and ensure reliable service.

Job Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Education/Certifications:

• Education in logistics, supply chain management, or related field
• Forklift Certified

Experience:

• 1+ years of experience in warehouse processes, shipping, and receiving.
• 1+ years' experience supervising and/or developing others.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with freight carriers to obtain quotes for multiple distribution channels and to capture proof of delivery (POD) reporting.
• Freight management experience

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving processes, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant software.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in a demanding environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Microsoft Office and shipping terminals
• Knowledge of order fulfillment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
