Job description

Job Title: Shipping Receiving Specialist

Department: Shipping/Warehouse

Reports to: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Shipping/Receiving Specialist packs and prepares customer orders for shipping, receives material and equipment, and loads and unloads trucks according to established procedures and shipping regulations, meeting customer delivery requirements. Assigned daily duties where needed within the shipping and receiving department. Must follow Altor Solutions’ standards for Safety, Housekeeping, Quality and Production in an efficient and safe manner.

Requirements

  1. Must be able to operate a forklift of all types proficiently.
  2. Ability to hand load boxes and bundles of product onto truck.
  3. Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete transactions within our ERP computer systems.
  4. Must be proficient in reading tape measurement and general mathematics with or without the use of a calculator.
  5. Must be able to follow instructions, read, write, and speak English as needed to operate machines and complete paperwork.
  6. Must have general computer skills.
  7. Ability to work independently as well as with a group.
  8. Must be able to operate in outside warehouses independently and proficiently.
  9. Must be able to work effectively in general manufacturing settings and conditions.
  10. Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with help.

Responsibilities

  1. Picking, loading, and billing of products for shipment to customers.
  2. Unloading, completing quality checks, receiving, and warehousing incoming products.
  3. Conduct accurate and complete data collection and paperwork.
  4. Communicate effectively with fellow team members and leadership.
  5. Complete work on schedule and accurately.
  6. Move finished product from workstation to banding/wrapping station and warehouse.
  7. Must be able to stand and walk for 7 to 9 hours per day.

Schedules

Shipping Receiving Specialist opportunities can exist across three shifts. 1st shift hours are 7am to 3pm.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  2. 6-12 months logistics and warehouse experience.
  3. Forklift Certification within 30 days of job entry date.
  4. Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) equipment is preferred.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers; talk and hear. Frequently required to reach, bend, squat, stretch, and twist. Regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds with help. Regularly required to stand and walk during the entire shift. Must be able to work efficiently and repetitively with hands and have physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform duties.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most manufacturing environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually high with ear protection required. Will work in a dusty and sometimes wet environment as well as cold/hot/humid areas based on the seasons.
