Position: Shipping & Receiving Operator

Reports to: Shipping: Warehouse Manager

Check One: FLSA Non-Exempt

Responsibilities
  • Wear required personal protective equipment and maintain a safe work area.
  • Unload trucks and fill out inbound manifests; collect packing lists and complete inbound processing for office handoff.
  • Operate a HiLo safely; use handheld scanner for RF scanning; create customer labels in Future 3; build master labels.
  • Locate materials, perform autoflow/repack, perform split and combine operations; verify quantities and labels on containers.
  • Process inbound and outbound shipments, including filling out inbound/outbound manifests and packing paperwork.
  • Identify damaged incoming material and follow customer pick sheets; ensure correct parts are located in inventory and reference components for finished goods.
  • Unloads/interplants trucks and records receipts; understands interplant shipping and the hilo check sheet.
  • Utilize scales to verify weight and piece count; ensure accurate receipt and outbound loading.
  • Adapt to assignments outside the scope of the job description to meet shipping & receiving needs.
  • Follow Hutchinson Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; effective communication with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in task completion.
  • Ability to operate a HiLo safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform computer input commands and scanning activities accurately.
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; or three months to six months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills for paperwork and reporting.
  • Use of a handheld scanner for RF scanning functions.
  • Reasoning ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
Certificates
  • Hilo (fork truck) operator's license.
Physical Demands

Frequent sitting while operating a Hilo, walking, bending, grasping, reaching, talking, and hearing. Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Work Environment

Manufacturing environment with PPE requirements (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, orange vest) while operating a Hilo. PPE may be required for certain tasks.
