Job summary

Columbus McKinnon is seeking a Material Handler in Menomonee Falls, WI to manage inbound receiving, put-away, order picking, and outbound loading. You will assist with deliveries to vendors/customers and conduct forklift inspections.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 6–12 months shipping/receiving experience and a current forklift license. Safety, accuracy, and documentation are essential in daily duties.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret shipping/receiving paperwork and BOMs.
• Maintain accurate documentation for receiving/shipping.
• Communicate effectively with truck drivers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Receive raw materials, parts, and components; unload trucks and place items into designated storage locations.
• Pick components per work orders or customer orders; deliver to manufacturing or shipping areas.
• Pack and/or crate parts, assemblies, or components for shipment using appropriate industry practices.
• Load finished products onto trucks or delivery vehicles for outbound shipment.
• Pick up or deliver materials to customers or vendors as needed.
• Conduct routine forklift inspections to verify safe operating condition.
• Execute computer transactions and complete all required receiving/shipping paperwork and documents.
• Maintain safe work habits and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Assist with special projects and work overtime when required.

Role overview

Support production and customers by ensuring the right materials are in the right place at the right time. You will manage inbound receiving, material put-away, order picking, internal deliveries, packing/crating, outbound loading, and occasional pickups/deliveries to vendors or customers - all while upholding safety, accuracy, and documentation standards.

• Maintain safe work habits, follow all safety rules, and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Assist with special projects as assigned and work overtime when required to meet daily commitments.

Skills and competencies

• Read and interpret instructions, safety rules, bills of materials, routings, procedure manuals, and shipping/receiving paperwork.
• Accurately complete all documentation associated with shipping and receiving.
• Communicate effectively one-on-one and in small groups with coworkers and truck drivers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 6-12 months related experience; or 1-3 years shipping/receiving experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated Material Handler experience.
• Current forklift license/certification.
