Job summary

Abita Brewing Company is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Inventory Coordinator to manage finished goods inventory and POS materials from production through shipping. The role supports the Logistics Manager and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate inventory control and efficient product movement.

The position requires 3–5 years in inventory/logistics, knowledge of DOT regulations, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, logistics, shipping/receiving, warehousing, or brewery/manufacturing.
  • Previous experience in a brewery, beverage, manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation operations and DOT regulations preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve inventory or operational issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and related applications.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain accurate daily inventory records for finished products and point-of-sale materials.
  • Assist with reviewing customer orders and inventory requirements, including Crescent Crown orders.
  • Manage product returns and destruction logs and support documentation for accounting.
  • Coordinate with AP, contract companies, and other partners regarding finished goods inventory, BOLs, truck scheduling, and shipping records.
  • Process all POS orders and prepare materials for shipment.
  • Manage pallet inventory and coordinate pallet orders to support production requirements.
  • Assist Marketing with donation requests, special events, and related planning.
  • Ensure inventory, shipping, and receiving documentation is complete and maintained according to procedures.
  • Provide accurate inventory counts and logistics notes for production meetings.
  • Backup and support Logistics Manager in coordinating shipments using Abita trucks and contracted freight carriers.
  • Assist with shipment prep, transportation coordination, PO assignments, and weekly transportation plans.
  • Coordinate seasonal and limited-release shipments and production runs.
  • Plan dunnage pickups and pallet returns.
  • Collaborate with warehouse, production, transportation and other departments to ensure timely movement of products.

Position Summary:


The Shipping & Receiving Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the daily coordination and management of finished goods inventory and point-of-sale (POS) materials following production and throughout the shipping process. This position ensures inventory activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices.


The Shipping & Receiving Inventory Coordinator also supports the Logistics Manager in coordinating production, shipping, returns, freight planning, and other logistics activities for Abita Brewing Company products. This role works closely with Production, Logistics, Accounting, Marketing, contract partners, and other cross-functional teams to ensure accurate inventory management and efficient movement of products and materials.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Finished Goods Inventory and Shipments:


  • Oversee and maintain accurate daily inventory records for finished products and point-of-sale materials.


  • Assist with reviewing customer orders and inventory requirements, including Crescent Crown orders.


  • Manage product returns and maintain destruction logs and support documentation for accounting.


  • Communicate and coordinate with Accounts Payable (AP), contract companies, and other business partners regarding:



    • Finished goods inventory


    • Bills of Lading (BOLs)


    • Truck scheduling and loading documentation


    • Inventory and shipping records required for accounting



  • Process all point-of-sale orders and prepare materials for shipment.


  • Manage pallet inventory and coordinate pallet orders to support production requirements.


  • Assist the Marketing Department with donation requests, special events, and related planning and execution.


  • Ensure inventory, shipping, and receiving documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained according to company procedures.



Logistics Support & Backup:


  • Provide accurate, up-to-date inventory counts and relevant logistics notes for production meetings.


  • Serve as a backup and support resource for the Logistics Manager in coordinating product shipments using Abita trucks and contracted freight carriers.


  • Assist with shipment preparation and transportation coordination, including:



    • Printing shipping documentation and preparing trucks for loading


    • Assigning purchase orders (POs) to contracted carriers


    • Preparing and distributing weekly transportation plans to contract companies


    • Coordinating seasonal and limited-release shipments and production runs


    • Planning dunnage pickups and pallet returns



  • Assist the Logistics Manager with additional logistics, shipping, receiving, and warehouse responsibilities as needed.


  • Collaborate with warehouse, production, transportation and other departments to ensure timely and accurate movement of products and materials.


  • Identify inventory or shipping issues and communicate them promptly to the appropriate personnel.

  • May involve exposure to varying temperatures and warehouse/environmental conditions.


  • Must be able to properly wear and use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including ear protection, gloves, safety boots, and other equipment as required.



Supervision of Others

This position is responsible for the supervision and coordination of Warehouse and Truck Driving personnel and ensures assigned employees follow company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.


Education/Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.


  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in inventory management, logistics, shipping/receiving, warehousing, or a brewery/manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of a degree.


  • Previous experience in a brewery, beverage, manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse environment preferred.


  • Knowledge of transportation operations and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations preferred.


  • Knowledge of safe work practices, workplace safety policies, and operational procedures.


  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify, investigate, and resolve inventory or operational issues.


  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


  • Strong organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
