Job Title: Shipping/Receiving Handler

Classification: Hourly Nonexempt

Reports To: Warehouse/Distribution Manager

Department: Plant Shipping/Handling

Location: Garland, TX

Shift: 8AM-4:30PM (Monday-Friday)


Summary of Job

Responsible for shipping and receiving all goods into the facility. Assist in maintaining the warehouse properly organized and maintained to facilitate the movement of product.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Safely operate forklifts to stage material, load trucks, unload trucks, and transfer material within the plant and departments as needed.
  • Process paperwork in SAP and use RF guns.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse daily for easy and efficient product location.
  • Perform daily inventory counts and provide information for adjustments.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain inventory of purchased products and conduct cycle counts.
  • Coordinate scrap material storage and oversee changes to the storage floor plan.
  • Familiar with scheduling systems and procedures.
  • Communicate with management, customer service, and carrier representatives.
  • Change propane cylinders on forklifts as required.
  • Manage scrap disposal into dumpsters, compactors, and trailers.
  • Follow 5S guidelines to keep work areas clean.
  • Perform other miscellaneous responsibilities as needed.
  • Perform material move transactions in SAP as needed.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, where feasible.

Competency

Ability to take coaching, communicate respectfully, promote teamwork, and effectively communicate via email. Prior SAP or ERP system knowledge. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow instructions, and adhere to safety practices.


Environment
  • Exposure to moving equipment.
  • Indoor work environment.
  • Humidity may exceed 80%.
  • Noise levels may exceed 85dB+.
  • Work in temperatures of 100°F+ with high humidity for up to 12 hours.

Physical Characteristics
  • Frequent standing, walking, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, crawling, and occasional twisting and stair climbing.
  • Push/pull 30-60 pounds.
  • Repetitive use of wrists, hands, fingers, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment safely.

Position Type
  • Full-time.
  • Shift work 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (M-F).
  • Overtime as needed.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year manufacturing experience preferred.
