Job summary

The State of Wyoming is seeking a Warehouse Lead Worker to act as a hands-on leader within the special orders area. You will guide a small team, train staff, and ensure accurate receiving and shipping while maintaining strict safety and inventory standards.

You will use a Warehouse Management System and spreadsheets to monitor workload, report productivity, and coordinate with Purchasing to optimize processes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-4 years of progressive work experience in Purchasing or Inventory, with knowledge at Shipping/Receiving Clerk I level.
• Forklift certification required within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the special orders area.
• Lead a team of 2 to 4 special order personnel.
• Report to supervisors and the manager on productivity levels and issues.
• Use the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to oversee incoming special products.
• Use spreadsheets to track the special order workload.
• Assist with receiving, picking, and shipping of special orders.
• Work with Purchasing on processes, procedures, and issues.
• Ensure freight paperwork is complete and submitted to Accounting or Purchasing.
• Push special orders out to clear locations.
• Train new employees in receiving and shipping of special orders.
• Safety and security of the facility.
• Assist with inbound freight receival, picking and shipping, new product setup, reslotting, and inventory cycle counts.
• Assist pickers with investigating order and label issues.
• Train employees and hold meetings to align the team.
• Back up supervisors and lead workers.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The warehouse lead worker serves as a "player-coach," playing a vital role in bridging the gap between management and warehouse staff. They oversee daily operations to ensure that products are received and shipped efficiently, safely and accurately. They guide team members, train new employees, manage inventory accuracy, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, stepping in as needed to achieve productivity goals.

• Assist pickers with investigating order and label issues.
• Train employees and hold meetings to ensure everyone is on the same page.
• Back up supervisors and lead workers.

PREFERENCES/AGENCY REQUIREMENTS

• Must obtain Forklift certification from the Wyoming Liquor Division within 6 months of employment.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of warehouse procedures and techniques including sorting and stacking.
• Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local policies and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED

Experience

2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Purchasing or Inventory) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Shipping and Receiving Clerk I
