The Shipping/Receiving Clerk (HAZMAT) Freight performs clerical and physical tasks related to shipping goods from the installation and receiving incoming shipments. This role may involve directing and coordinating activities of other workers or agents handling goods to be shipped or received. Clerks work under the supervision of a Lead or Supervisor.

Responsibilities

1. Verify DD form 1149 / 1348s are accurately completed prior to ordering and arrival of commercial trucks.
2. Verify that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods against documents.
3. Ensure shipments are properly packaged, labeled with shipping information, and loaded into transport vehicles.
4. Prepare and maintain records of shipped goods, such as manifests and bills of lading.
5. Verify incoming shipments by comparing unloaded items and quantities against bills of lading, invoices, or other records.
6. Check for damaged goods and ensure proper routing within the installation.
7. Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational objectives.
8. Note: Job duties and responsibilities may change due to contractual requirements.

Physical Activities

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs unassisted.
• Must wear PPE such as masks, safety shoes, and head/hand protection as required.
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods, up to 8 hours.

Working Environment

• Work may be performed in office and outdoor settings.
• Night shifts, weekends, overtime, and travel may be required.
• Exposure to weather conditions such as rain, wind, heat, and cold.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current HAZMAT Certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC card.
• Proof of US Citizenship (birth certificate or US Passport).
• Valid state Driver's License.

Skills and Experience

• Two years of freight transportation experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Defense Transportation Regulation regarding cargo movement.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
