Shipping / Receiving Clerk

Responsibilities:
- Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items unloaded from railroad cars, trucks, and trailers; checks against suppliers count and immediately reports discrepancies to carriers and supervisor per company policy.
- Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments, reporting discrepancies to Production Supervisor.
- Maintains shipping records for requested categories including goods returned, dunnage, and returnable pallets.
- Maintains ERP to include shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
- Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
- Completes information on damage claims for in-transit damage.
- Transports materials on shipping dock with a hand truck or other vehicle as needed.
- Verifies and maintains records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepares product for shipment, addressing, stamping, and packing.
- Arranges transportation of products; Fed Ex / UPS / TRK / Overseas.
- Effectively prioritizes shipping and receiving schedules.
- Inspects outgoing shipments for damage or defects, records discrepancies, shortages, or damages.
- Receives and inspects returned products, sorts defective pieces.
- Assists with month-end inventory.
- Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Reports problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor to Production Supervisor.
- Follows documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Employee Handbook and adheres to proper code of conduct while on company property.
- Ensures work meets quality & safety standards and is performed according to established procedures. Finishes the assigned work in the allotted time and maintains the production levels.
- Works as a team and contributes to a clean, orderly, and healthy work environment.
- Performs all other tasks as directed by your supervisor.
What you will bring to the team:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least one (1) year of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience required.
- Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
- Basic understanding of railway, dock, and warehouse procedures.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
- Must be able to work in noisy environments.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds, unassisted at times.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb to access all parts of the machine.
- Must be able to traverse Shipping/Receiving and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Effectively applies critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
