Job summary

AUTOKINITON is seeking a Shipping / Receiving Clerk in the Materials Department to support material handling, shipping, and receiving. The role involves operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and related equipment, while ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to safety standards.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, forklift and crane experience, and the ability to follow TS16949 and ISO-14001 procedures. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience or training.
  • Must read and understand TS16949 and ISO-14001 procedures.
  • Valid driver license required.
  • Forklift and overhead crane safety certification/ability.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery and equipment per MIOSHA standards and company procedures.
  • Move levers and pedals to drive truck and control lifting movements.
  • Transport loads with forklifts and lifting platforms to designated areas.
  • Unload, stack, and stage material for shipment or receipt.
  • Use overhead cranes for rigging machines and lifting operations.
  • Receive material and record supplier paperwork accurately.
  • Tag incoming/outgoing freight and prepare shipper documents.
  • Set up trucks and pull loads for shipments as requested.
  • Maintain FIFO and organize department materials.
  • Perform daily safety and operational checks; keep areas clean and orderly.

AXIS ENGINEERING- Shipping / Receiving Clerk – Materials Department
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery and equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, safety glasses etc.)
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus
  • Positions forks/lifting platforms and transports loads to designated areas
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device
  • Utilize overhead cranes for rigging various machines
  • Receives material and enters paperwork from suppliers
  • Responsible for tagging incoming/outgoing freight
  • Prepares orders/stages orders for delivery
  • Set up trucks, create shippers and pull loads for shipments as requested
  • Inventories materials on work floor/shipping dock, assist putting away after material receipt
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels or production schedules
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids or lifting device from various sources, from various types of vehicles (flatbed, cargo van, etc.)
  • Monitor supplier deliveries and escalates past dues
  • Organizes materials in department as necessary
  • Lubricates truck, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank or replaces liquified gas tank
  • Utilize personal tools for assembly/disassembly of various types of machinery
  • Completes safety and operational checks daily
  • Follows and performs FIFO procedures
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly
  • Able to identify and categorize equipment and tools in non-working areas
  • Cross train on all crib duties for both internal and external storage locations
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Responsible for reading and understanding the TS16949 and ISO-14001 procedures located at K:/winapps/data/TS Team/Procedures
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Must be able to safely operate forklift.
  • Must be able to safely operate overhead cranes.
  • High level of commitment.
  • Ability and willingness to learn.
  • Adaptive to a fast-paced environment.
  • Bills of Lading knowledge.
  • QAD experience preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizations
  • Basic Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear, with an ability to travel. When visiting plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration or hazardous materials.
