Job summary

Vogrinc Search Group is seeking a Shipping & Receiving Associate in Harlan, IA. The role verifies outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and handles related clerical tasks.

Must have 1–2 years in shipping/receiving and familiarity with measurement devices, SDS/HazCom rules, and basic packaging procedures. Experience with forklifts, overhead cranes, and UPS WorldShip is a plus; training is provided.

Responsibilities

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify against records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels or identifies information on cartons.
Assembles containers and inserts items into them.
Stamps or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates.
Counts, weighs, measures, or inspects packaging for conformance.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates lift equipment to move shipments to storage or work area.
Studies notices and invoices to determine shipping priorities and methods.
Performs clerical data entry and file keeping related to shipments.

Salary: $18-22/hour

Job Summary of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

The Shipping & Receiving Associate will verify and keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Shipping & Receiving Associate:

Compares identifying information and counts weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines the method of shipment.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Insert items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains the inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules.
Inspect shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Counts, weighs, measures, or examines packaging and contents for conformance to company specifications.
Compares items packed with customer's orders and other identifying data.
Performs clerical tasks such as computer data entry, typing correspondence, and keeping files.
Delivers incoming goods to respective departments.
