Job summary

Avon Technologies plc in Cadillac, MI is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Material Handler to support daily receiving and shipping operations, learn other material handler duties, and ensure accurate movement and documentation of materials.

You will load/unload, verify goods, use X3, perform cycle counts, maintain stock locations, and operate forklifts and trucks as required. This role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and cross-training across the Materials function.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in all required Material Handler responsibilities.
  • Ability to independently perform Receiving functions with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with inventory transactions and basic inventory control processes.
  • Ability to safely operate material‑handling equipment, including forklift & box truck.
  • Ability and willingness to cross‑train and provide coverage in other Material Handler functions as business needs require.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately receive, move, stage, and put away materials.
  • Ability to perform cycle counts and assist with identifying inventory discrepancies.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use required inventory and Materials systems.
  • Ability to read and follow standard work, procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and respond to changing production and operational needs.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, and willingness to support the overall Materials operation.
  • Ability to obtain hi‑lo license.
  • Ability to learn the computer systems and hand scanners
  • Basic math skills are required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lb boxes repetitively
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent attendance is a must.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must get and maintain a valid Chauffeur’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day receiving activities independently and accurately.
  • Load & unload trucks/ocean containers safely.
  • Receive and verify incoming materials, quantities, and documentation.
  • Complete required receiving and inventory transactions in X3.
  • Identify and communicate shortages, damages, quantity discrepancies, or other receiving issues.
  • Ensure received materials are put away promptly and in the correct stock locations.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient receiving area.
  • Perform accurate inventory transactions in X3 using both the computer & scan gun.
  • Assist with cycle counts and inventory discrepancy research as needed.
  • Follow FIFO requirements.
  • Maintain accurate stock locations.
  • Pull, stage, move, and put away materials as required.
  • Maintain proficiency in all Material Handler tasks.
  • Be trained and qualified to perform Kanban/material replenishment activities.
  • Operate forklifts and drive the company truck as required.
  • Provide coverage outside of Receiving when workload, vacations, absences, or business needs require it.
  • Maintain material handling skills through periodic rotation or coverage assignments.
  • Respond to material requests and changing production priorities.
  • Follow established standard work and Materials processes.
  • Participate in cross-training and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Work flexibly across the Materials department to help maintain overall workflow and prevent areas from falling behind.
  • Complete the required daily hi-lo/forklift safety checklist prior to operating equipment
  • Preparing shipments for both domestic and international orders.
  • Maintaining stock of non stock shipping supplies.
  • Consolidating shipments to optimize shipping costs.
  • Learn and develop proficiency in the DOW shipping process

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cadillac is $54,350.00 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
