Job description

Responsibilities
  • Leads a team of shipping and receiving personnel, providing guidance, training, and input towards performance evaluations.
  • Coordinates and oversees the daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring that shipments are accurately processed, packaged, and prepared for transportation.
  • Collaborates with internal departments, including procurement, warehouse, and customer service, to ensure seamless coordination of orders and shipments.
  • Monitors inventory levels to prevent overstocking or shortages and maintains accurate records of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Ensures that shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and documented to prevent damage and errors during transit.
  • Addresses and resolves any issues or discrepancies related to shipments, such as delays, damaged goods, or order discrepancies.
  • Utilizes shipping software and systems to track shipments, manage inventory, and generate reports on shipping activities.
  • Optimizes shipping processes and workflows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains a safe and organized work environment, adhering to safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Provides training to new team members and conduct regular training sessions to enhance the team's skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborates with carriers, suppliers, and other external partners to coordinate transportation and logistics activities.
  • Supports the implementation of new shipping technologies and tools to enhance operational capabilities.
  • Analyzes shipping data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of shipping-related policies, procedures, and best practices.
Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of experience in shipping and logistics.

Certification(s)

Forklift, Crane Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of shipping processes, transportation modes, and inventory management.
  • Proficiency in using shipping software and systems for tracking and reporting.

Work Environment
