Job summary

MANITOU Group in Belvidere, IL is seeking a Shipping Pallet Builder to assemble boxes, crates, and platforms for shipping equipment. The role follows a Monday–Friday shift from 10:00 a.m.

to 6:30 p.m., onsite at Belvidere, IL, with a base pay of $19.00 per hour and potential quarterly bonus based on performance. Candidate will load orders, operate tools safely, and maintain quality control and Lean records.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Previous warehouse, crate building, or carpentry experience preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred and must pass the certification test.
• Experience with barcode scanning systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately build, stage, and load orders based on a pick ticket.
• Use appropriate manual or powered tools safely.
• Verify that the boxes, skids, crates or platforms built match the order request.
• Operate power/manual tools in a safe manner.
• Ensure Quality Control Standards and Practices are observed.
• Meet daily productivity and quality standards.
• Record daily productivity on Progress Control Boards following Lean principles.
• Operate stand‑up and sit‑down forklifts or be willing to be trained.
• Help maintain cleanliness and 5S standards.
• Cross-train in other warehouse areas as needed.
• Adhere to Safety Program and Policies.
• Perform miscellaneous activities to support warehouse operations.
• Ensure all skids are loaded properly for transport.

General Accountability

The Shipping Pallet Builder assembles boxes, skids, crates, or platforms used for shipping equipment and machine parts. The role also involves planning and building or assembling crating methods for new or unusual items and loading LTL trailers.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Accurately build, stage, and load orders based on a pick ticket.
• Use appropriate manual or powered tools safely.
• Verify that the boxes, skids, crates or platforms built match the order request.
• Operate power/manual tools in a safe manner.
• Ensure Quality Control Standards and Practices are observed (recording errors, inspecting parts for damage, correcting shortages, wrong parts, and using QC forms).
• Meet and exceed daily productivity and quality standards.
• Record daily productivity on Progress Control Boards following Lean principles.
• Operate stand‑up and sit‑down forklifts – or be willing to be trained.
• Help maintain cleanliness and 5S standards.
• Be willing to cross‑train in other warehouse areas as needed.
• Adhere to the Company Safety Program and Policies.
• Perform miscellaneous activities as directed to support the efficient operation of the warehouse.
• Ensure all skids for each order are loaded properly and safely for transport in a semi‑trailer.

Experience

• Previous experience with a barcode scanning system/handheld preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred (order picker, reach truck, stand‑up RC); must be able to pass the forklift certification test.
• Previous warehouse, crate building, or carpentry experience preferred.

Expertise

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.
• Strong communication skills with team members.
• Work independently under minimal supervision.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Basic computer and math skills.

Education

• High school education or equivalent required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay $19.00 per hour plus a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics.
• Actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications, and work location.
• Position located onsite in Belvidere, IL.
• Travel requirements – none.
