Job Summary

A shipping operator is responsible for managing the shipment and receipt of products, materials, and supplies. This role may involve operating trucks or vessels to transport and deliver mail and packages. The shipping operator must adhere to schedules, safety rules, and inspections. Responsibilities may also include crewing, chartering, and cargo handling.

Responsibilities

1. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inventories.
2. Load and unload finished products and raw materials.
3. Operate lift trucks safely and efficiently following all safety procedures.
4. Fill out daily forklift checklists.
5. Manage the shipment and receipt of products, materials, and supplies.
6. Collaborate and communicate with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, service providers, and others involved in shipments.
7. Track, trace, and update the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
8. Verify shipping routes and check orders for accuracy prior to shipping.
9. Receive, track, and send orders to customers.
10. Use radio frequency identification to scan barcodes for organized inventory documentation.
