Position Summary

The Shipping Lead provides direction and guidance to the Lead and Shipping/Receiving Operators to achieve production shipping/receiving goals and produce a quality product in a safe efficient manner; They are responsible for implementing a timeline established by the Logistics Manager their team will use to reach the end daily production goals by delegating tasks to Shipping/Receiving Operators to include themselves; use different types of machine equipment to assist with the shipping and receiving of the NARSTCO product and cooperates as a team with other workers to meet customer needs and goals.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Carryout to the full extent required, production activities for the processing of any and all NARSTCO products;
  • Plan, coordinate and communicate Logistic Department instructions to meet daily performance requirements and goals;
  • Manage the flow of day-to-day operations within the Logistics Department;
  • Communicate clear instructions to team members and provide needed assistance;
  • Listen to team member’s feedback;
  • Monitor continuous operation of daily schedule;
  • Assist with shift-to-shift coordination;
  • Review Logistics Department schedule for efficient operation;
  • Provide initial training to team members and as necessary;
  • Mark and inspect product as required;
  • Monitor, evaluate and assist in determination if product meets all quality requirements;
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations;
  • Promote work safety standards and enforce procedures to maintain safe working conditions;
  • Work safely at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to insure timely completion;
  • Assist new employees in safe and efficient production which includes following standard operating procedures and instructional material and manuals;
  • Commit to and participate in activities for continuous improvement;
  • To exercise the utmost degree of integrity, honesty, good faith and fidelity to the Company, in dealing with the Company and with its customers, employees, suppliers and other public entities;
  • Provide other reasonable services as the Company may request from time to time.

  • The Assistant Lead in Training performs all functions of the Lead in their absence based on training from the Production Operator Lead and Foreman.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Three years’ experience in Industrial Manufacturing
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to Shipping/Receiving Operators by on-the-job observation and training
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • One to two years Forklift operation and certification a bonus
  • Basic reading and mathematics skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge and experience in various industrial machines such as hoists and forklifts,
  • Basic maintenance knowledge such as tightening and loosening bolts etc. is preferred
  • Ability to work well with tools and machinery required
  • Flexibility in handling multiple priorities and heavy production requirements
  • Experience in industrial, production manufacturing and fabrication preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • The job operates in primarily the production area of the NARSTCO facility
  • Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, loud noises, machines, fumes, heat/cold, sparks, metal dust and industrial moving parts in the plant facility
  • Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety regulations must be adhered to at all times
  • Required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and must requires assistance if lifting/or moving over 50 lbs.
