Job summary

Newco Coffee in Missouri is seeking a Shipping Clerk to verify and process incoming and outgoing shipments. You will prepare bills of lading, arrange freight, and coordinate with carriers to ensure on-time delivery.

You will record shipment data in our inventory system and provide day-to-day guidance to the shipping team. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate shipping records, printing pick tickets, and supporting inventory control.

Qualifications

• Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Prepare items for shipment, scheduling shipments with freight forwarders, couriers, and transportation providers.
• Prepare shipping quotes for customers, negotiate competitive shipping rates, and process freight bills.

Responsibilities

• Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments.
• Prepare documents, such as bills of lading, NAFTA documents, customs, and shipping orders to route materials.
• Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
• Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
• Deliver or route materials to departments, using pallet jacks and or forklift.
• Confer and correspond with Sales, Customer Service, and establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
• Assist Customer Service and Sales with inventory questions or concerns, quotes, dimensions.
• Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
• Provide day to day guidance in Shipping by structuring workloads to maximum productivity and efficiencies. Printing pick tickets from our inventory management system, constantly reviewing updates and prioritizing workloads.
• Assist on the floor when/as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
