Job Description

Job Summary:

Supervises shipping/receiving and parcel/pick & pack employees in a growing/changing warehouse environment. Plans and assigns work tasks and responsibilities. Implements, modifies and develops policies and procedures. Recommends and implements change to improve warehouse and shipping conditions; efficiency, overall performance. Typical staff size is 12-16 employees, oversees 1st and 2nd shift employees.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Effectively communicates with transportation and customer service to meet the expectations of Fiberon’s customers.
  • Builds and ensures effective employee relations, building team unity, providing coaching and member development
  • Makes employment decisions and works through employee issues following proper management and HR department protocols
  • Balances safety, quality and productivity goals to meet customer expectations
  • Leads by example to initiate change
  • Contributes to continuous improvement projects within the shipping and warehouse operations
  • Assists with updating Standard Operating Procedures
  • Assists with achieving daily shipping/receiving expectations and accurately reporting results
  • Participates in and actively support facility safety systems
  • Understands and utilizes the Quality Assurance system
  • Provides leadership and manages department priorities
  • Improves working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, cost)
  • Works to build subordinates knowledge, skills and capabilities
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Associates Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years warehouse/shipping/manufacturing experience; advanced lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • ERP/WMS experience is required; intermediate to advanced Excel skills preferred
  • 1-2 years experience in a LTL/parcel/pick & pack environment preferred; experience in an e-commerce and/or special order environment a plus
  • 3-5 years previous supervisory experienced required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to see and implement opportunities for continuous improvement within the shipping/warehouse department
  • Team Building and Effective Communications skills a must
  • Good Organizational and Time Management skills required
  • Ability to observe and establish key performance metrics and goals for employees within the shipping/warehouse department
  • Effective and proven people skills
  • Strengths in conflict management and problem solving
  • The ability to multitask, delegate and direct subordinates under pressure to achieve desired results
  • Ability to analyze and make improvements to cross-functional processes utilizing skills in team building, effective communications, and project management

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as scheduled
