Job summary

Hood Container Corporation in Chicago, IL is seeking a Shipping Clerk to join our 1st shift team. You will play a central role in coordinating shipments, ensuring accuracy and safety across internal teams and truck drivers.

As Shipping Clerk, you will handle inventory counts, documentation, packing, and carrier paperwork, and support warehouse operations with efficient material handling and system updates. Your daily tasks include shipping coordination, updating inventory systems, inspecting

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starter with strong organizational and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shipping schedules with customer service, purchasing, and production.
• Prepare work orders and coordinate repairs for trucks and equipment.
• Perform blind counts and verify quantities, lot codes, and part numbers.
• Ensure safe, accurate loading/unloading and storage of materials.
• Inspect shipments and verify outbound shipments meet customer requirements.
• Build custom skids and adjust packaging per specifications.
• Track shipments and complete bills of lading and shipping documents.
• Move materials within the warehouse and update inventory systems.
• Provide additional support to logistics and warehouse operations.
