Job summary

LSI Industries, Inc. in Alpharetta, GA is seeking a Shipping Lead to oversee the shipping department, organize daily shipments, manage truck scheduling, and ensure shipments match records.

The role requires organizing, planning, and coordinating with carriers and internal teams. Candidates should have experience leading shipping or warehouse staff, knowledge of shipping docs, OSHA safety, and ERP systems; forklift certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading shipping, receiving, or warehouse staff in manufacturing or distribution.
• Hands-on experience with truck scheduling, carrier coordination, and dock/appointment management.
• Working knowledge of shipping documentation, bills of lading, and freight carrier processes.
• OSHA safety regulations knowledge and commitment to a safe work environment.
• Basic computer proficiency, ERP/warehouse management systems; Macola experience a plus.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and shifting schedules.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with carriers, drivers, and internal departments.
• Strong problem-solving abilities under pressure in a fast-paced shipping environment.
• Reliable, accountable, with willingness for overtime as needed.
• Experience in wood manufacturing is a plus.
• Lift/carry/push/pull 1–50 lbs frequently; forklift certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
• Organize and prepare daily shipments.
• Direct movement of shipments from shipping to storage and work areas.
• Determine space requirements and position of shipment in trucks.
• Follow QA procedures.
• Communicate requirements with internal customers and designated carriers.
• Organize, distribute and print all orders; ship and close out sales orders.
• Create and print packing lists and Bills of Lading.
• Prepare daily management and weekly reports.
• Provide training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping personnel.
• Coordinate with shop personnel to meet delivery, cost and quality objectives.
• Ensure cost effectiveness of delivery, including labor utilization and equipment use.
• Foster positive working relationships; address performance concerns and employee concerns.
• Assist in picking orders when needed.
