SUMMARY: Hourly Shipping Lead is responsible for supervising all employees assigned to the department. In addition, responsible for directing and overseeing all runs, shipments, aspects, etc. in the department. In addition, training and cross-training employees reporting to you.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain quality, efficiency, and production levels set by management. Communicate these standards to your staff.
  • Keep upper management informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of the department (includes the Shipping Manager and Shipping Assistant).
  • Establish high morale within your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain daily production schedule regarding customer deliveries. Make recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
  • Must be proficient in using all shipping technology programs such as, Amtech, Top Gun, Outlook Etc.
  • Meet Goals set for trailer utilization, filling trailer & shipping efficiently
  • Report to management in writing any maintenance, repairs, or preventive maintenance that is needing proper attention in the department.
  • Communicate with necessary supervision to avoid problems between shift changes.
  • Must be able to adapt to a flexible shift schedule to cover any absentees or call ins.
  • Must be self-sufficient in problem solving and leading the department in meeting the daily goals.
  • Meet & set goals and expectations of safety within your department.
  • Enforce the corrective action procedures when applicable and notify shipping manager of issues. Participate in meetings with the violating employees.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.
