Job summary

Pratt Industries, Inc. in Cedar Hill, TX is seeking a Shipping Lead to assist the Shipping Manager and run the shift. This role focuses on daily operations, reporting, and ensuring on-time delivery while supporting the supervisor.

You will monitor backlog, OTD, load planning, and inventory accuracy, with emphasis on safety and compliance. Candidates should have a high school diploma and hands-on experience in manufacturing, preferably in corrugated packaging.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior corrugated industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Supervisor with running Daily Reports: Backlog, OTD, Trailer Utilization, Dispatch/Load Plan.
  • Assist Supervisor in review/investigate customer complaints (Shipping).
  • Assist with Load Planning and combining orders.
  • Monitor daily inbound/outbound distribution.
  • Maintain warehouse inventory counts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

POSITION: Shipping Lead
REPORTS TO: Shipping Manager
LOCATION: Cedar Hill, TX
SUMMARY:

Opportunity is for internal candidates eligible for promotion. This position will assist supervisor in running the shift.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist Supervisor with running Daily Reports
    • Backlog
    • OTD
    • Trailer Utilization
    • Dispatch/Load Plan
  • Assists Supervisor in the Review/Investigate Customer Complaints (Shipping)
  • Assists Supervisor with Load Planning - Combining Orders
  • Assists Supervisor with monitoring daily Inbound/Outbound Distribution
  • Assists Supervisor Deleting of Load Tags
  • Manage/Maintain Warehouse Inventory counts
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required
  • Two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Candidates are preferred who offer the following:
    • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the supervisor's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
  • Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the Manager find areas that require improvement
  • Computer literate (MS Office including Word and Excel), data entry skills
  • Application knowledge of products and production processes
  • Quality standards - both ISO and QS
  • Regulatory requirements including but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ and EEO
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Will be required to maintain a current Forklift Operator License
