Job summary

Steel Technologies LLC in Smyrna, TN seeks a Shipping Coordinator to verify records for outgoing shipments and prepare items for customers, ensuring on-time delivery and accurate paperwork with carriers and shop teams.

Shift is Sunday–Thursday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m. Starting pay is $18.75–$20.75 per hour. Benefits include medical/dental/vision after 60 days, 401(k) with match, paid time off, holidays, tuition assistance and more.

Qualifications

• Must be able to prepare shipping paperwork and dispatch freight accurately.
• Experience using AS400 shipping system is preferred.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bills of lading and route shipments via AS400 to ensure accuracy.
• Attach certifications, samples, and other items required by orders.
• Coordinate pickup/delivery schedules with carriers per routing.
• Inspect items loaded on trucks and verify tags against bills.
• Ensure loading complies with instructions and orders.
• Review files/orders for loads and notify supervisor of delays.
• Maintain accurate documentation, shipments, rates, and on-time shipments.
• Account for material and paperwork flow to the office.
• Manage carrier flow to meet shipping requirements.
• Escalate non-compliance issues to supervisor.

Job description

As a Shipping Coordinator at Steel Technologies, your day-to-day responsibilities will include verifying and maintaining records on all outgoing shipments. W e can guarantee your role will require multitasking, organization and time-management skills. You’ll be responsible for helping Steel Technologies succeed by preparing items for shipment to our customers and ensuring their expectations are met. Essentially, you play a big part in getting the finished material into the right hands at the right time.

Sunday- Thursday 10:00 p.m.- 6:30 a.m. Starting pay $18.75-20.75

How you’ll contribute to our company:

• Prepare bills of lading through AS 400 shipping system to ensure accuracy and best possible routing
• Attach all certifications, matrixes, samples, and any other items required by shop or customer orders
• Call and insure prompt pick-up/delivery schedules through truck lines per routing (sales, customer, and supervisor)
• Inspect/Insure proper items loaded on trucks (check tags to bills before bills are signed).
• Ensure trucks are loaded per loading instructions
• Check all files/orders/customer sequence for possible loads/late orders and notify shipping supervisor
• Ensure accuracy of documentation, paperwork, shipments, competitive rates, inventory turn, and on-time shipments
• Account for all material and paperwork flow to office
• Control flow of carriers to meet shipping requirements
• Communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor and/or shift lead

• Ability to prepare shipping paperwork, inspect shipments, and dispatch freight to ensure accurate and on time delivery to customers
• Ability to use tape measures, micrometers, and calipers
• Ability to multitask, time manage and prioritize
• Ability to use AS400 shipping system
• Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
