Job summary

HarbisonWalker International (HWI) is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to join our Operations Team in Ohio. The role performs clerical duties to ship orders and meet customer delivery requirements, coordinating with Supply Chain and the Customer Account Specialist.

You will arrange shipments with approved 3PLs, manage inventory variances, and handle export paperwork while upholding Lean principles and accurate data in Oracle ERP. Strong organization and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma and basic clerical experience.
• Experience in Lean production environments is preferred.
• Experience with inventory management metrics (OTIF, cycle counts) is a plus.

Job Description HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our Operations Team as a Shipping Coordinator.

Summary

The Shipping Coordinator performs a variety of clerical functions required for HWI to ship orders and meet customer delivery requirements.

Responsibilities

• Preparing finished goods accurately for shipment according to customer requirements
• Facilitating the flow of information between Supply Chain and the Customer Account Specialist to coordinate shipping priorities and ensure timely and accurate delivery
• Coordinating shipments with approved third-party logistic companies
• Reconciliating inventory variances
• Preparing export order paperwork
• Coordinating warehouse cycle counts

Requirements

• Requires High School diploma
• The Shipping Coordinator requires zero (0) – two (2) years of inventory and shipping experience, preferably in a refractory operation.
• Requires computer operation skills including, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Oracle ERP accounting system
• Requires experience in working towards Lean production
• Requires experience in inventory management planning performance metrics: raw material and finished goods inventory levels, customer service levels, cycle count accuracy, on-time delivery, day’s on hand, physical inventory and delivery sales targets
• Requires interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Requires excellent organization skills with accurate and precise attention to detail

• Physical Activity: Requires more than 2/3 of time talking or hearing; 1/3 to 2/3 of time standing, walking and / or sitting; and less than 1/3 of time using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing/balancing, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling; and/or tasting/smelling.
• Lifting: Requires lifting up to 10 pounds less than 1/3 of time.
• Vision: Requires accurate close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Environment: Requires 1/3 to 2/3 of time working near moving mechanical parts and less than 1/3 of time exposed to fumes or airborne particles, working with explosives, in an office setting, working in high, precarious places, exposed to outdoor weather, extreme heat, vibration, and/or the risk of electrical shock.
• Noise: Requires exposure to moderate noise.
