Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to manage check-in, check-out and communications with drivers at our Castroville facility. You will ensure orders are loaded in rotation, issue Bills of Lading, and provide directions to drivers while upholding safety procedures and policy compliance.

The role requires basic math/reading skills, forklift certification (or willingness to obtain), familiarity with warehouse software, and a willingness to work a 6-day schedule including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; forklift training may be required.
• Proficient math and reading skills are required.
• Forklift certification and/or 2-3 years of forklift experience preferred.
• Proficient computer knowledge and use of warehouse software required.
• Experience with radio frequency handheld devices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with Sales on daily special requirements and check-in trucks on a first-come basis.
• Communicate loading status to drivers and assign loaders to orders.
• Ensure orders are loaded in rotation according to aging reports and monitor receipts.
• Check-out: tag orders, verify correct products and issue Bills of Lading.
• Answer inquiries from Sales or customers and provide driver directions.

Job description

The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for various shipping office-related functions. The individual engages with and follows safety procedures, and policy compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Check-In

• Coordinate with the Sales department on any daily special requirements
• Check-in trucks on a first come – first serve basis
• Communicate to incoming drivers current loading status in a professional and courteous manner
• Assign available loaders to each order when ready to load
• Communicate to loaders any special requirements for orders
• Ensure that all orders are loaded in rotations, according to the aging report
• Monitor product receiving during the day and cross reference truck arrivals

Check-Out

• Tag out the orders by checking the pallet tag numbers used by the loaders against the product on order
• Verify that the correct product was loaded in rotations and that any special instructions for that order were followed
• Issue a Bill of Lading for each shipment and distribute copies as appropriate

Telephone Inquiries

• Answer all questions by Sales or customers regarding orders
• Provide truck drivers with directions to our various facilities

Job Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; continuing work-related training, including forklift, safety and good agricultural practices may be required
• Proficient math and reading skills required
• Previous forklift certification and/or experience of 2-3 years preferred
• Proficient computer knowledge in Famous and other computer software required
• Prior knowledge and efficient use of radio frequency handheld devices is preferred
• This position requires that employees work Monday through Saturday, including Sundays and holidays, as needed 8 – 10+ hours per day, or as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities; overtime may be required. Weekly shift rotation schedule
