Job summary

Ocean-Mist-Farms is seeking a Shipping Coordinator in Castroville, CA to handle daily shipping office tasks and ensure safe, compliant operations. The role involves coordinating with Sales, checking in trucks, and communicating loading statuses to drivers.

Responsibilities include check-out procedures, tagging orders, issuing Bills of Lading, and answering inquiries from Sales and customers. Monday–Saturday shifts and overtime may apply, with emphasis on accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; continuing work-related training, including forklift, safety and good agricultural practices may be required
• Proficient math and reading skills required
• Previous forklift certification and/or experience of 2-3 years preferred
• Proficient computer knowledge in Famous and other computer software required
• Prior knowledge and efficient use of radio frequency handheld devices is preferred
• This position requires that employees work Monday through Saturday, including Sundays and holidays, as needed 8 – 10+ hours per day, or as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities; overtime may be required. Weekly shift rotation schedule

• Check-In: Check-in trucks on a first come – first serve basis
• Check-In: Communicate loading status to incoming drivers professionally
• Check-In: Assign loaders to orders when ready to load
• Check-In: Communicate special requirements for orders to loaders
• Check-In: Ensure orders are loaded in rotations according to aging report
• Check-Out: Tag out orders by pallet tag numbers used by loaders
• Check-Out: Verify correct product loaded and follow any special instructions
• Check-Out: Issue a Bill of Lading for each shipment and distribute copies
• Telephone Inquiries: Answer questions from Sales or customers regarding orders
• Telephone Inquiries: Provide truck drivers with directions to facilities
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $21.50 To $23.50 Hourly

The Shipping Coordinator will be responsible for various shipping office-related functions. The individual engages with and follows safety procedures, and policy compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Check-In

• Coordinate with the Sales department on any daily special requirements
• Check-in trucks on a first come – first serve basis
• Communicate to incoming drivers current loading status in a professional and courteous manner
• Assign available loaders to each order when ready to load
• Communicate to loaders any special requirements for orders
• Ensure that all orders are loaded in rotations, according to the aging report
• Monitor product receiving during the day and cross reference truck arrivals

Check-Out

• Tag out the orders by checking the pallet tag numbers used by the loaders against the product on order
• Verify that the correct product was loaded in rotations and that any special instructions for that order were followed
• Issue a Bill of Lading for each shipment and distribute copies as appropriate

Telephone Inquiries

• Answer all questions by Sales or customers regarding orders
• Provide truck drivers with directions to our various facilities
