Shipping Clerk (Manufacturing, 1st Shift, NW Houston 77041) (Administrative)

Essential Job Responsibilities: Following are the specific job responsibilities and duties necessary to accomplish the job purpose.

  • Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming items to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records
  • Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates, affixes shipping labels on packed goods
  • Assembles shipping containers or selects preassembled containers and inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages
  • Routes items to proper locations/departments
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies
  • Pulls and packs product based on daily orders
  • Meets specifics of customer orders in a timely manner
  • Operate sit down forklift and side loader to move, load and unload material from receiving delivery truck to platform to storage or work area
  • Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills, Experience and Education: Following are the skills, experience, education and related course work typically required or expected to perform the essential job functions:

  • At least 2 years of continuous receiving/shipping experience
  • At least 2 years' experience operating a forklift in industrial/manufacturing setting
  • At least 2 years of CRM/ERP experience, Syteline preferred
  • Must have time management skills
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English

Essential Physical Requirements: The physical factors and working conditions required or expected while performing the essential functions of the job are described below:

  • Regularly required to lift, carry, pull and push 50lbs. unassisted
  • Regularly standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and turning
  • Exposed to outdoor weather temperatures

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Work Hours and Schedules: The typical work hours and schedules for the job are indicated below, including the percentage and type of travel, if required.

  • Must be able to work between 7:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday
  • Occasional Saturdays, as required to meet Production needs
