Job Title: Shipping Clerk Lead
Shift Schedule: 2nd Shift - Friday, Saturday, Sunday 5 pm - 5 am & Monday 5 pm - 11 pm
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Job Purpose
Reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and works efficiently in a warehouse environment to verify materials received, schedule shipping and freight operations, and produce detailed shipping documentation. Collaborates with the warehouse team to lead and ensure customer satisfaction, including accepting and scheduling customer orders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the check‑in of all drivers.
- Prepare bills of lading; check items against work orders to ensure quantities, destinations, and routing are correct.
- Receive and unload incoming materials, compare packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy, and process return shipments from customers.
- Sort, count, package, label, unpack, and log inventory that is shipped or received.
- Print all pertinent paperwork for shipping.
- Coordinate with the dock and drivers regarding loading locations.
- Coordinate with carriers that use drop trailers, informing them of trailer number, seal number and paperwork procedures.
- Ensure all paperwork is properly signed by pickup driver.
- Close loads in the system.
- Trace lost shipments and/or customer claims of lost shipments; initiate proof of delivery documents.
- Coordinate with Customer Service Teams regarding special paperwork for certain orders such as international orders or customers who prefer special BOLs, and enter customer orders while scanning/indexing documents as required.
- Understand goals, policies, and procedures of RJW.
- Communicate customer problems, leads, and inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain confidentiality of company information.
- Recommend improvements and implement approved improvements.
- Update reports as required by Operations Manager and COO.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by manager.

Qualifications
- Basic office clerical skills.
- Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Minimum 2 years of clerical experience.
- Basic transportation, logistics and shipping experience.
Education and Experience Required
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; and present information effectively to managers, clients, and customers.
- Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; determine root cause of problems and corrective action.
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- Lead, guide, and train employees performing related work.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
- Articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
- Regularly work in an indoor/office environment; sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
- Frequently required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
- Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
- Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and concentrate on more than one task at a time.
- Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
- Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
- Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
