Job summary

Dometic Marine's Sparta, TN facility is seeking a Shipping Clerk to process shipments, prepare bills of lading, and coordinate with carriers. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and requires accurate paperwork, internet-based posting, and the use of Mapics to create shipments and check inventory.

Ideal candidates have warehouse or logistics experience, proficiency with ERP and MS Office, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, or logistics experience.
• Ability to accurately prepare shipping documents, labels, and packing slips.
• Experience with ERP systems, inventory management software or Microsoft Office is a plus.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift as needed.

Responsibilities

• Process shipments and confirm packing slips are correct.
• Create bills of lading and obtain bill of lading and commercial invoices.
• Figure freight charges, select carriers, and post shipments via internet.
• Use Mapics to create shipments and check inventory; communicate with carriers.

Our Marine organization is a trusted provider of innovative solutions for the worldwide boating and boat building industry, and we recently expanded our scope to lead the boating industry into an electrified future. Dometic Marine’s facility in Sparta, TN produces roto-molded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-molded products for industrial applications. The site also manufactures select marine furniture, aluminum tanks, blow-molded portable tanks, and sanitation systems.

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Shipping Clerk. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and will work in Sparta, TN.

About the position

As Shipping Clerk of the Sparta team, you will be involved in processing shipments and confirming packing slips are correct. In this position you will use the internet to create bills of lading, figure freight charges and select carriers. This position requires the use of phone, email and internet to post shipments, get shipping instructions, and obtain bill of lading. The shipping clerk will also assist with other duties and requirements as needed.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Must be able to communicate with carriers, customers, and vendors
• Use of internet for filling out paperwork and setting up shipments with carriers
• Use of email to communicate with carriers and logistics companies
• Ability to use Mapics to create shipments, and check inventory.

• Classifying Freight
• Create and/or obtain Bill of Lading and Commercial Invoices
• May be assigned to perform other duties as requested

Skills & Requirements

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and shipping/receiving as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, or logistics experience
• Ability to accurately prepare shipping documents, labels, and packing slips
• Experience with ERP systems, inventory management software or Microsoft office is a plus
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift as needed
• Basic Math skills for counting inventory and verifying shipments
• Self-starter and “Can do” attitude is a must!
