Job summary

Lozier Corporation in Scottsboro, AL seeks a DC Shipping Clerk to print and manage outbound paperwork, and to maintain the packing list for inbound receiving. They are the first contact at the shipping desk and ensure drivers have correct export documents and hazmat paperwork.

The role also supports the export coordinator for Canadian shipments on the 2nd shift, prints maps, and coordinates with LTL/truck carriers. Regular attendance and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Up to 2 years maintenance or custodial experience.
• Basic computer skills; MS Word and Excel.
• Good communication and time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first contact at the shipping desk for calls and arrivals.
• Print and manage outbound paperwork; verify export documents and hazmat paperwork.

Position Summary

The DC Shipping Clerks are responsible for printing and managing the majority of outbound paperwork as well as maintain packing list file for inbound receiving. They are the first point of contact for anyone calling into or physically checking in at the DC shipping office. Responsible to provide accessorial paperwork (maps, export documents, dangerous goods, etc) to drivers at time of pick up.

Essential Job Functions

• Act as point of first contact at the shipping desk when calls come in, or someone checks in, at the DC.
• Provides assistance to Customers, Customer Service or other entities as requested or needed.
• Prints and maintains paperwork for each truck load and LTL trailer that is loaded by the DC. Also, verifies that drivers leave with correct export documents, hazmat paperwork, trailer number and seal number. Prints maps for the drivers.
• Supports the export coordinator in the main office and Joplin, MO, by creating and printing export documents for our Canadian shipments (2nd shift only).
• Performs shipment close, in Catalyst, on LTL small package/air and truckload shipments when complete.
• Calls LTL carriers for trailer pick up and cartage carriers/customers for dock pick ups.
• Calls out trailer moves to the shag drivers and keeps track of drivers who have checked in for their loads.
• Logs inbound trailers and containers and maintains paperwork for receiving
• Maintains live driver check in log.
• Maintains Haz-Mat file for DOT compliance.
• Provides weekend coverage, outside of normal working hours, of shipping desk when DC is working.
• Cross training and additional projects as needed
• Regular attendance and timeliness in reporting to work and completing assignments
• Ability to work and interact well with others

Experience

• Up to 2 years general maintenance and/or custodial experience

Required Skills

• Ability to organize activities and manage time effectively.
• Intermediate PC Skills including Microsoft Word, Excel
• Ability to communicate effectively with others face to face or using telephone, email, and C.B. radio.

Preferred Skills

• Working knowledge of Business Objects
• Working knowledge of Lozier Mainframe
• Working knowledge of Catalyst
• Working knowledge of how DC works and movement of freight.
