Job Title: Shipping Clerk

We are searching for an experienced Shipping Clerk at our Portland, OR facility.

Job Summary:

As the Shipping and Receiving Clerk, you will be responsible for the movement of goods in and out of a multi-shift operation. You will help with the flow of goods to keep production running smoothly and ensure material movement is efficient.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7 am - 3:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment.
2. Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet schedules.
3. Assist with incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
4. Determine space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks.
5. Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and seal loaded vehicles.
6. Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel or contact outside service facilities for repairs.
7. Direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage and work areas.
8. Post weight and shipping charges.
9. Prepare bills of lading.
10. Assist workers in shipping and receiving activities as needed.

Required Experience:

Demonstrated experience in managing forklift drivers, establishing excellent safety records, and managing labor costs effectively. Strong team-building skills and a detail-oriented approach are essential, as material movement accuracy is critical. Must be a team player.

Required Education:

At least 1+ years of experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, or dock operations.

• Experience with warehousing operation systems.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Physical capabilities include standing, sitting, squatting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, stretching, walking, reaching, twisting, bending, grasping, and handling objects. Must be agile around moving machinery and personnel.
