Job Summary
The Shipping Clerk coordinates shipments, manages documentation, and ensures timely deliveries through effective communication with carriers and internal teams.
Primary Duties
- Receive and process customer orders for shipment, including printing necessary documents and planning according to order priority.
- Verify product availability, coordinate with inventory systems, and meticulously prepare items for packing to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
- Coordinate with and update the customer service team on shipment status and promptly address any order changes or inquiries.
- Package and label products as necessary to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Navigate shipping processing systems and applications, utilizing scanners to efficiently process and manage shipments.
- Work closely with the outbound team to palletize and prepare larger orders for shipment, ensuring they are securely packed and labeled according to shipping requirements.
- Keep workstation tidy and organized, regularly restocking supplies and maintaining dispensers to ensure continuous operational efficiency.
- Ensure that proper paperwork and labels are kept with respective orders and not mixed up.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret order sheets, labels, and instructions.
- Basic math skills for inventory counts and order verification.
- Proficiency in using handheld scanners and warehouse management software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling paperwork and shipments.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with carriers and customer service teams.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Knowledge of and commitment to warehouse safety practices and procedures.
- Physical requirement: Must be able to properly lift, pack, stack, and wrap up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Working conditions: While performing duties, the employee is required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle items. Noise level is usually moderate. Warehouse temperatures may reach up to 90°F during summer months.
Education / Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, packaging, logistics, or warehouse operations is preferred.
