Job summary

Petland Corporate Stores in Chillicothe, OH seeks a Shipping Clerk to prepare accurate paperwork, process orders in shipping systems, and coordinate carrier documentation to ensure on-time departures from the distribution center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Shipping/warehouse clerical or logistics experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with ShipStation, a warehouse management system, ERP software, SPS Commerce, or retail portals is a plus.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to organize competing priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate problems promptly.
• Willingness to work overtime or adjusted hours when business volume requires.

Responsibilities

• Process outbound orders and shipments accurately using ShipStation, warehouse systems, customer portals, and carrier websites.
• Create, print, sort, and verify shipping labels, packing slips, bills of lading, manifests, and other required documents.
• Confirm order numbers, SKUs, quantities, customer information, shipping methods, and addresses before shipment release.
• Complete required shipment confirmations, advance shipment notices, routing requests, and related customer-compliance steps.
• Communicate order issues, inventory shortages, address problems, missed pickups, and shipping delays to the appropriate team members.
• Coordinate with warehouse associates to prioritize orders and meet customer and carrier cutoff times.
• Track open orders and maintain organized electronic and paper shipping records.
• Assist with scheduling parcel, LTL, and other carrier pickups as assigned.
• Respond professionally to internal shipping questions and assist with shipment research, proof of delivery, and claim documentation.
• Follow Petland safety procedures, security practices, attendance expectations, and customer-specific shipping requirements.
• Support general clerical, inventory, and warehouse duties as operational needs require.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous shipping, warehouse clerical, order-processing, or logistics experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer applications.
• Experience with ShipStation, a warehouse management system, ERP software, SPS Commerce, or retail customer portals is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to enter information accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to organize competing priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate problems promptly.
• Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime or adjusted hours when business volume requires.
