Job summary

White Cap is seeking a Shipping Clerk to join our on-site team in Mississippi. You will assemble orders, prepare goods for shipment, and ensure accurate labeling and postage. You will work with the shipping team to print receipts, verify data, and keep product availability current on the company website.

The role requires 0–2 years of related experience and a HS diploma or GED. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and prepares orders for shipment.
• Ensures shipments are properly labeled, postage paid, and securely packaged.
• Prints daily sales receipts and cross-checks the computer software for accuracy.
• Keeps management informed of product shortages to maintain accurate information on the company website.
• Prepares inventory for shipment, bands and shrink wraps pallets, and attaches shipping labels.
• Prepares invoices to accompany shipments and ensures items are packaged and shipped to company standards.
• Tracks inventory and reports shortages to the sales team.
• Works with other shipping clerks to ensure prompt handling of invoices and proper storage of goods.

Job Summary

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities

• Ensures all shipments receive the proper labeling, postal charges, and are packaged to arrive safely.
• Prints daily sales receipts and cross-checks the computer software to ensure accuracy.
• Keeps management and supervisors aware of product shortages to maintain accurate information on the company website.
• Prepares inventory for shipment. Properly bands and shrink wraps pallets and attaches shipping labels.
• Assembles and fills boxes and other cartons with items that need to be shipped.
• Prepares detailed and accurate invoices to accompany shipments and ensures all items are packaged and shipped to company standards.
• Tracks inventory and reports any shortages to sales team.
• Works with other shipping clerks to see that all invoices are handled promptly and goods are shipped and stored properly.

Nature and Scope

• Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
• Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.
• None.

Work Environment

• Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
• No travel required.

Education And Experience

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
