Job summary

Xylem is hiring a Shipping Associate in Yellow Springs, OH to perform picking, packing, and shipping, manage stock, and learn receiving. The role runs 8:00 am–4:30 pm with potential schedule changes based on business needs.

The associate will enter shipping data into shippers’ software, maintain materials, and support receiving during non-peak times while collaborating with Marketing for Trade Show materials.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years shipping and receiving experience.
  • Picking and packing experience.
  • Strong computer skills (BPCS, Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to read floor layout maps to locate materials.
  • Basic Math Skills.
  • Ability to identify appropriately sized shipping containers for orders and pack to prevent damage.
  • Ability to use various shippers’ software packages.
  • Ability to read item numbers, descriptions, quantities, and lot/serial numbers.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Pull, pack, and ship parts to meet customer expectations.
  • Cross-train to learn all shipping tasks.
  • Verify accuracy between pick slips and items pulled.
  • Enter shipping data into shipper software and print documents.
  • Perform daily mail run.
  • Receive deliveries from vendors on the dock.
  • Calculate freight for order entry inquiries; simulate weight and dimensions for special orders.
  • Read and follow customer order notes.
  • Maintain shipping materials stock.
  • Back-up receiving during peak times.
  • Coordinate with Marketing for Trade Show materials.

The associate will also be trained in receiving.**Essential Functions:*** Responsible for pulling, packing, and shipping parts in a cost-effective, timely manner to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.* Required to cross-train to learn all jobs in shipping* Check for accuracy between the pick slip and the items pulled* Meeting standards for accuracy and timeliness for pulling, packing, and shipping customer orders.* Pack orders in an appropriate manner for shipment* Enter shipping data into the proper shippers’ software interface and print shipping documents* Daily mail run* Responsible for receiving deliveries from vendors on the dock* Calculate freight for order entry inquiries. Simulate weight & box dimensions for special orders* Read & follow customer order notes* Maintain shipping materials stock* Receiving back-up during non-peak times* Coordinate with Marketing for the shipment of Trade Show-related materials**Minimum Qualifications:*** 2+ years of shipping and receiving experience* Picking and packing experience* Strong computer skills (BPCS, Microsoft Office) are highly desirable* Ability to read floor layout maps to locate materials for pulling* Basic Math Skills* Ability to identify appropriately sized shipping containers for orders of varying shapes, sizes, and weights and to pack items to prevent damage during shipment* Ability to use and adapt to various shippers’ software packages* Ability to read item numbers, descriptions, quantities, lot/serial numbers, instructions, and other information* Ability to multitask in a highly dynamic environment* Attention to detail* Demonstrated team skills and experience working in a team environment* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written**Working Conditions & Physical Demands of the Job**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location.
