Job summary

Baker Publishing Group is seeking a part-time Shipping Associate for Baker Book House. You will prepare outgoing packages, wrap items, and apply postage using shipping software, while ensuring correct addresses and proper packaging for processing.

You will also handle loading/unloading boxes, assist with warehouse inventory, and maintain OSHA-compliant, clean workstations in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and communicate in English, both written and spoken.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in packaging and labeling.
  • Able to operate shipping software and inventory systems.

Title: Shipping Associate

Reports to: E-Commerce Manager

Location: Baker Book House

Hours: Part-Time

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position is part-time, with occasional Saturdays required.
  • Prepare outgoing packages for shipment.
  • Wrap packages or bundles by hand.
  • Affix postage to packages or letters by hand, or stamp materials, using shipping software.
  • Verify that items are addressed correctly, marked with the proper postage, and in suitable condition for processing.
  • Determine the way mail is to be sent and prepare it for shipment.
  • Load and unload boxes for incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Assist Warehouse Supervisor with warehouse inventory/storage.
  • Clean and maintain an organized workstation, meeting all OSHA workplace regulations.
  • Break down boxes and packing material for re-use or recycling to maintain a clean warehouse.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, maintaining them over time.

Other tasks not on this list may be assigned.

  • Physical Qualifications – Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, with the ability to lift, bend, and twist as required. The job requires regularly moving boxes up to 50 pounds.
