Job summary

Industrial Metal Fab is seeking a dependable Shipping & Receiving Specialist to join our manufacturing team in Newton, KS. You will receive, inspect, and ship materials, operate forklifts and cranes, and help maintain inventory accuracy while following safety policies.

We offer a 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule, Monday–Thursday, and $20.00–$28.00 per hour depending on experience, plus 100% company-paid health insurance, a SIMPLE IRA with company match, and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Overtime availability may be required.
• English communication skills required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred (not required).
• Forklift experience and crane operation are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
• Unload and load trucks using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Transport materials and finished products within the facility.
• Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
• Generate shipping labels and related documentation.
• Coordinate shipments with carriers and drivers.
• Organize warehouse and staging areas for efficiency.
• Follow safety policies and OSHA regulations.

What You'll Do

As a Shipping & Receiving Specialist, you'll play an important role in ensuring materials and products move efficiently throughout our facility.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
• Unload and load trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
• Transport materials, parts, and finished products throughout the warehouse, shop, and yard.
• Pick, pack, inspect, label, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
• Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, packing slips, and related documentation.
• Verify orders using work orders, drawings, and customer specifications.
• Stage materials and finished products for production and shipment.
• Assist with inventory counts and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Organize warehouse, yard, and staging areas for maximum efficiency.
• Coordinate shipments with freight carriers, vendors, and delivery drivers.Perform general warehouse housekeeping and minor facility maintenance.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment safely.

What We're Looking For

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in shipping & receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or material handling (preferred but not required)
• Forklift experience (certification is a plus)
• Experience operating overhead cranes is a plus
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Basic math skills
• Ability to read packing slips, bills of lading, and shipping documents
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or GED preferred (not required)
• Ability to work overtime when needed
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen

Physical Requirements

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Stand and walk for extended periods
• Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, and lift
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe boots
• Safely operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment
