Job summary

American Iron and Metal is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Specialist for its Non-Ferrous Division in Cleveland, OH. The role is full-time and focuses on the day-to-day flow of non-ferrous materials in a fast-paced industrial setting.

The ideal candidate will have 2+ years in shipping/receiving, forklift certification, strong documentation skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs while working outdoors. Teamwork and communication are essential to succeed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years shipping/receiving experience in an industrial setting.
• Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with inventory systems is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions.
• Knowledge of non-ferrous metals is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of non-ferrous materials.
• Verify materials received and shipped against documentation (BOL, packing slips).
• Operate forklift and related material-handling equipment safely.
• Assist inventory control with regular cycle counts and records.
• Ensure shipments meet company standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.
• Communicate with scale operators, yard staff, logistics providers, and management.
• Maintain a clean, organized shipping/receiving area.
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks as needed.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, safety-conscious, and have experience in shipping, receiving, and inventory management in a fast-paced industrial environment.

What you’re responsible for:

• Coordinate all inbound and outbound shipments of non-ferrous materials
• Accurately verify materials received and shipped against documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing slips)
• Operate forklift and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Assist in inventory control by performing regular cycle counts and maintaining accurate records
• Ensure all shipments comply with company standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
• Communicate effectively with scale operators, yard personnel, logistics providers, and management
• Maintain a clean and organized shipping/receiving area
• Assist with loading/unloading trucks as needed

Qualifications

What we offer:

• You have 2+ years of experience in shipping/receiving, preferably in a scrap, recycling, or industrial setting
• You have a previous Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain) required
• You have strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• You have basic computer skills (experience with inventory systems an asset)
• You have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment
• You have knowledge of non-ferrous metals is a strong asset
• You have excellent communication and teamwork skills
